What are physical volumes?
A physical volume is a collection of disk partitions used to store all server data. On Windows, you can specify an entire physical disk, a logical disk drive (partition), or a fully allocated operating system file for the disk name.
What is Pvcreate?
The pvcreate command initializes a physical volume for later use by the Logical Volume Manager for Linux. Each physical volume can be a disk partition, whole disk, meta device, or loopback file.
What is allocated PE?
PE for LV The number of physical extents within the logical volume that are contained on this physical volume. Physical extents: displays the following information for each physical extent: PE The physical extent number. LV The name of the logical volume to which the extent is allocated.
Does Pvcreate destroy data?
“pvcreate -f” will NOT delete the data. It will only remove the headers on the disk.
Is Pvcreate needed?
This option is needed before restoring a backup of LVM metadata onto a replacement device; see vgcfgrestore(8). As such, use of –restorefile is compulsory unless the –norestorefile is used. All PVs must have unique UUIDs, and LVM will prevent certain operations if multiple devices are seen with the same UUID.

How to create new simple volume of unallocated space?
I am trying to create a partition. I first shrunk my primary partition (C) which was around 140 GB, and created an unallocated space of 60000 MB, using the shrink volume option. I changed the drive letter of my dvd drive to F from E.
