What are some ways to change the resistance in a circuit?
There are several factors that affect the resistance of a conductor;
- material, eg copper, has lower resistance than steel.
- length – longer wires have greater resistance.
- thickness – smaller diameter wires have greater resistance.
- temperature – heating a wire increases its resistance.
CAN termination resistor wattage?
The calculations in the attached document indicate that the resistor needs to be at least a 7.5W resistor, which seems very large in comparison to the 0.25W value that is recommended in most CAN-bus applicaiton notes.
Can Bus 120 Ohm resistor?
In a low speed CAN each device should have a 120 Ohm resistor. In a high speed CAN-Bus (>100Kbit, used in automotive) only each end of the main loop should have a 120 Ohm resistor. You should measure 60 Ohms over these 2 wires, because there are two 120 Ohms resistors in parallel (parallel resistance calculator).
Why are switched capacitor resistors used in integrated circuits?
The Switched Capacitor resistor is often used as a replacement for simple resistors in integrated circuits because it is easier to fabricate reliably with a wide range of values. It also has the benefit that the equivalent resistor value can be adjusted by changing the switching frequency.
How to explain the operation of a switch?
The circuit’s operation can be explained by looking at the equivalent circuits formed in the two switch states, open and closed. Starting with the switch open. The capacitor C1 will charge via R1 and D1. In time, C1 will charge and Vb will reach within 0.7V of Vcc. Therefore the output of the inverting Schmitt trigger will be a logic 0.
What kind of switch to use for switched capacitor?
Analog switches and multiplexers such as the CD4066 and CD4053 can be used. A switched capacitor differential to single ended configuration is shown in figure 8. Build this circuit on your solder-less breadboard using two of the three SPDT analog switches in the CD4053.
