What are the changes in Landsat Collection 2?
Several data processing, geometric, and radiometric improvements, along with a new data distribution process, define Collection 2 Level-1 data. This page provides details about the changes users can find in Landsat Collection 2 Level-1 data.
Where can I find Landsat Level 1 data?
The Global Land Survey (GLS) database is the primary source for the GCPs library used to georeference Landsat Level-1 data. The most recent GLS 2000 data set is a collection of images acquired by Landsat 7 ETM+.
How to calculate the vegetation index on Landsat?
Landsat Surface Reflectance-derived Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) Specifications Attribute Value Long Name Normalized Difference Vegetation Index Short Name LC8NDVI, LE7NDVI, LT5NDVI, or LT4NDVI File Name *_sr_ndvi.tif Data Type Signed 16-bit Integer
Which is the global reference image for Landsat 4?
Together with the European Space Agency’s Copernicus Sentinel-2 Global Reference Image (GRI) harmonization, removing this constraint allows more Landsat 4-7 scenes to process to a L1TP product. Present in some Collection 1 scenes was a duplicated ‘wedge’ of data in the extreme southwest corner of the scene.
How is surface reflectance calculated in Landsat 8 Oli Collection 2?
Landsat 8 OLI Collection 2 Surface Reflectance data are generated using the Land Surface Reflectance Code (LaSRC) (version 1.5.0), which makes use of the coastal aerosol band to perform aerosol inversion tests, uses auxiliary climate data from MODIS, and a unique radiative transfer model (Vermote et al., 2016).
When was band 198 acquired by Landsat 8?
These Landsat 8 OLI images of Path 165 Row 198 over the Pacific Ocean (Band 3, acquired October 10, 2019) compare the striping in Collection-1 (left) and the reduction in striping in the Collection 2 image due to the improved bias estimate (right). (Click to enlarge)
What does band 1 on Landsat look like?
By itself, its output looks a lot like Band 2 (normal blue)’s, but if we contrast them and highlight areas with more deep blue, we can see differences: Band 1 minus Band 2. The ocean and living plants reflect more deep blue-violet hues.
