What can I add to Raspberry Pi for I2C and SPI?
There are many peripherals that can be added to a microprocessor over the I2C and SPI serial interfaces. These include atmospheric sensors, EEPROMS, and several types of display. The Pi Wedge helps access the I2C and SPI signals.
Can a GPIO controller interfaced over I2C be supported?
Only memory mapped GPIO controllers are supported. GPIO controllers interfaced over I2C/SPI are not supported. The controller driver is a memory mapped controller if it sets the MemoryMappedController flag in the CLIENT_CONTROLLER_BASIC_INFORMATION structure in response to the CLIENT_QueryControllerBasicInformation callback.
Where is the I2C bus on the Raspberry Pi?
Raspberry Pi exposes a single I2C bus on pins 3 and 5. The accompanying friendly name declaration – which is required – is specified in the DSD: This declares an I2C bus with friendly name “I2C1” that refers to resource index 3, which is the index of the I2CSerialBus () resource that we declared above.
What kind of serial interface does Raspberry Pi have?
The Raspberry Pi has three types of serial interface on the GPIO header. You’re probably already familiar with the UART serial port, which allows you to open a login session from a serial terminal application, such as PuTTY. The other two serial interfaces are the Serial Peripheral Interface ( SPI) and Inter-Integrated-Circuit bus ( I2C ).
Is the wiring Pi included in Raspberry Pi?
The original wiringPi source ” git://git.drogon.net/wiringPi ” is not available. Wiring Pi is previously not included with early versions of Raspbian. This required users to download and install it. Luckily, Wiring Pi is included in standard Raspbian systems.
Which is the best way to install Raspbian?
For the Python examples, we’ll be using spidev for SPI and smbus for I2C. Updated Aug 17, 2018: Added Python examples, added suggestions for alternative ways of installing Raspbian, updated screenshots to show newer raspi-config, and added suggested projects in the “Resources and Going Further” section.
Where does the UU go on a Raspberry Pi?
For recent Pis with the 40 pin expansion header you should be connecting 3V3 (Pi pin 1) to power, ground (Pi pin 6) to ground, SDA (Pi pin 3) to SDA, and SCL (Pi pin 5) to SCL. The I2C UU entries are reserved addresses.
