What causes sanding belts to break?
Your belt may break as a result of too much loading. If this is the case, you may have one of the following problems: too high removal rate of a removal rate, large thickness variations of work pieces, or foreign particles in the sanding machine or on the work surface.
Can sanding belts be Reglued?
They are made and sold for building and repairing abrasive sanding materials. You can also mend or make abrasive belts by this DIY method: Obtain some bias binding tape from a fabric store, or you can make your own. I just clean up the fabric/fiber edges of the broken belt and reglue with CA or super glue.

What kind of belt should I use for sanding pine?
If you’re sanding a very soft wood, such as pine, there will generally be more loading as these woods have a higher resin content. Check to make sure you are using the right type of belt (cloth, paper, etc) for your application.
