What do you do with leftover resin after printing?
Basically, cured resin is safe resin. Once you’re done with printing, your gloves will have some resin on them, as well as the paper towels used. We suggest putting your gloves and paper towels into the sun, if possible, to cure the leftover resin so that you can dispose of that waste with the regular trash.
Can you reuse photopolymer resin?
In a controlled, cool, dark room, you can leave uncured resin in your 3D printer vat for several months without issues. It’s a good idea to cover your whole resin printer to block any light from affecting the photopolymer resin inside the vat.
How do you filter leftover resin?
To filter resin:
- Suspend the filter above the plastic container on a ring stand.
- Wear gloves to remove the resin tank from the printer.
- Hold the edge of the tank, taking care not to touch the tank’s optical window or tank film.
- Tilt the resin tank with the spout aligned directly above the filter.
Can I leave resin in VAT?
Uncured resin can remain intact in the tank or vat of your 3D printer for many weeks if you keep it away from UV light exposure. The ideal condition for storing uncured resin is a cool, dark place.
Can you use isopropyl alcohol to clean resin?
Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) dissolves liquid resin, making it effective for washing parts printed on Formlabs SLA printers and for cleaning resin spills. Wash prints with IPA using the Form Wash or the Finish Kit.
Can you reuse isopropyl alcohol resin?
This alcohol isn’t 100% clean but it’s pretty dang good to reuse as a rinse. Keep a couple of baths on hand that you can rotate out while one sits (or leave over the weekend). You can dump the remaining small amount of alcohol/resin onto a paper towel and let it dry out.
Can you use expired UV resin?
Usually, all UV resin manufacturers claim that the shelf life of their resin is 12 months. Just make sure you keep UV resin in the best suitable environment away from the sunlight, and you can use UV 3D printer resin even after its expiration date.
