What do you need to know about a resistor?
Color band. Before you can test a resistor, you need to know its strength and tolerance. Resistors are color-coded. If you look at a resistor, one end should have a gold, silver, or white band. Turn the resistor so that this band is to your right.
Which is the right hand side of the resistor?
Normally the band that’s over the end cap is the right-hand one, but that top row looks pretty ambiguous. The bottom ones are 220 ohms 1%, the top ones look like 220K 1%.
What should be the resistance of a pull down resistor?
For pull-down resistors, it should always have a larger resistance than the impedance of the logic circuit. Or else, it will pull the voltage down by too much and the input voltage at the pin would remain at a constant logical low value regardless of whether the switch is on or off.
What do the first two bands on a resistor mean?
The first two bands always denote the first two digits of the resistance value in ohms. On a three or four-band resistor, the third band represents the multiplier.
How do you find the second number on a resistor?
Look at the color of the second band to find the second number. To the immediate right of the first colored band is a second colored band. Locate the band and identify what color it is. Then, consult the resistor color chart to identify the second number in the value of the resistor.
Why do I need a new blower resistor?
Some of my friends say I need a new blower resistor because that controls the air flow or something and others say blower motor. I believe if I am moving on “no circulation” and the air is coming through the vents, then the blower motor is fine. Or that its just my vents are open and the air is coming from somewhere else.
How do you identify an axial resistor with a picture?
Axial resistors are cylindrical with leads extending from each end. Look at the resistor so the group of 3 or 4 color bands are on the left side. These are sometimes followed by a gap, then an additional color band.
