What does Banner mean in notifications?
Banner notifications on your iPhone are alerts that drop down from the top of your screen whenever you receive a notification from an app.
Banners are the pop-up notifications you see while you’re using your phone. Below those options are two more: Sounds and Badges. Sounds are the audio tone alerts. Badges are the red circles with numbers that show up on app icons, for example, the one on your email app showing how many unread messages you have.
What are notification banners and badges?
Banners are displayed at the top of the screen when a notification is received. They will disappear automatically after a couple of seconds. Badges are displayed on app and folder icons on your Home screen to notify you of something new in an app.
If your phone has one, while on the same setting path, toggle to enable. When this is enabled, banner notifications are displayed in full screen mode, such as when you are watching videos or playing games.
Option 1: In your Settings app
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Apps & notifications. Notifications.
- Under “Recently Sent,” tap an app.
- Tap a type of notification.
- Choose your options: Choose Alerting or Silent. To see a banner for alerting notifications when your phone is unlocked, turn on Pop on screen.

How to manage notifications from the lock screen?
