What does Edate mean in MS project?

What is a status date in MS project?
The status date of your Microsoft Project plan tells you the date through which your project is current. The status date can also affect percent complete, project progress, and other status indicators in your project plan.
What’s the difference between scheduled start and actual start?
“Scheduled Start” would lead you to believe this is your initial planned start date and remains static while “Actual Start” would be, well, the Actual Start date. So one value by definition would be different than the other, yet when any of these dates, “Scheduled Start”, “Actual Start”, or “Start” are changed, they all change to the same value.
Do you enter actual start and finish dates?
In the figure below I have modified a table to show the Baseline, Actual and current Start and Finish dates. The Baseline has been set but Actual dates have not been entered. At this point entering any percentage of schedule or work completion will copy the current Start date to the Actual Start.
