What does it mean when your AC in the car works but not really cold?
Air Conditioning Not Working in Your Car? The most common causes of broken air conditioning are leaks or compressor issues. If your air is blowing cool but not cold, the problem could be a clogged filter, cooling fan problem, radiator trouble, or it could simply be that you need to recharge your AC.
Why is my AC on but not blowing cold air?
If your central AC is not blowing cold air, the refrigerant may be the problem. The unit could be running low and need additional refrigerant added. The most likely cause of this is a leak. A leak not only keeps the AC unit from cooling properly, but also it can cause other issues within the home.
How do you find AC blockage in a car?
Signs & Symptoms of a Clogged Automotive Air Conditioning System
- Compressor Noise. Compressor noise can result from internal component wear and manifest itself by a rattling, grumbling or howling noises that comes from the compressor unit.
- Auto Shutoff.
- Compressor Freeze.
- Intermittent Cooling.
- Gauge Diagnosis.
Why is my car AC blowing out hot air after recharge?
If the A/C works okay then gradually blows hot air after recharging, you might be dealing with refrigerant leaks. The safest and effective way to find leaks is to vacuum the system. Take your car to a qualified technician to have the system diagnosed.

Why is my air con not working in my Vauxhall Astra?
First thing to have checked and confirmed is that it has gas in it, and the correct amount of gas too. If it has leaked to any major level, needs to be checked where the leak has occurred – quite often the condenser in front of the engine’s radiator gets either punctured or corrodes and leaks the gas out of the system.
Why is my Vauxhall air conditioning not cold enough?
The problem lay with a fuse I removed in the winter (fuse36) to replace the blown fuse for my screen wash (fuse40). According to the Vauxhall owners manual and the Haynes manual, fuse 36 is a spare and unused. Not so it is used to protect the power supply to the air conditioning electro magnetic coil.
How much air con gas is in a Vauxhall?
One £40 can of air con gas (510g of aircon ‘stuff’) from halfrauds to refill…… so I thought! Instructions read twice, so engine turned on, aircon on max cold, shake can well and hold upside down, what could go wrong!
What kind of oil does an Astra air con use?
One for charging the system (the refrigerant) and one for leak testing (nitrogen), plus he also has PAG oil which is added to the system for lubrication, and a UV dye for leak testing at a later date. From what you’re describing, it sounds like one of those DIY cans that has the pressure gauge fitted to it.
