What does resampling a signal do?
The resample function is designed to convert sample rates to either higher or lower rates. As a consequence, the frequency cutoff of the anti-aliasing filter is set to the Nyquist frequency of the input or output sample rate (whichever is lower).
How does Matlab resample work?
y = resample( x , p , q ) resamples the input sequence, x , at p / q times the original sample rate. resample applies an FIR Antialiasing Lowpass Filter to x and compensates for the delay introduced by the filter. The function operates along the first array dimension with size greater than 1.
What is resampling in Matlab?
The resample function changes the sample rate for a sequence to any rate that is proportional to the original by a ratio of two integers. The basic syntax for resample is. y = resample(x,p,q)
What is an anti aliasing filter why is it required?
Anti-aliasing filters are used at the input of an analog-to-digital converter. Similar filters are used as reconstruction filters at the output of a digital-to-analog converter. In the latter case, the filter prevents imaging, the reverse process of aliasing where in-band frequencies are mirrored out of band.
At what will Matlab look first for a called function?
MATLAB searches the path for the given function name, starting at the first directory in the path string and continuing until either the function file is found or the list of directories is exhausted. If no function of that name is found, then the function is considered to be out of scope and MATLAB issues an error.
What is the difference between & and && in Matlab?
See more here. & is a logical elementwise operator, while && is a logical short-circuiting operator (which can only operate on scalars). For example (pardon my syntax). For && , the right operand is only calculated if the left operand is true, and the result is a single boolean value.
What does it mean to resample a sampling rate?
“Resampling” means combining interpolation and decimation to change the sampling rate by a rational factor. 4.1.2 Why resample? Resampling is usually done to interface two systems which have different sampling rates.
Is the resampling factor greater than one in multirate filtering?
Depending on the resampling factor, resampling can be thought of as a general case of other types of multirate filtering. It can be: Interpolation: The interpolation factor, L, is greater than one, and the decimation factor, M, is one.
Which is an example of the resampling factor?
The interpolation factor is simply the ratio of the output rate to the input rate. Given that the interpolation factor is L and the decimation factor is M, the resampling factor is L / M. In the above example, the resampling factor is 147 / 160 = 0.91875
How big is the interpolation factor for resampling?
No. The problem is that for resampling factors close to 1.0, the interpolation factor can be quite large. For example, in the case described above of changing from the sampling rate from 48 kHz to 44.1 kHz, the ratio is only 0.91875, yet the interpolation factor is 147!
