What DPI should I use for printing text?
300-600
The higher the DPI, the sharper the print. Printers often have various DPI levels, depending on the settings. For example, a setting more favorable for printing text typically has a DPI of 300-600. Printing photos and other graphics in color will look best with a higher DPI, often into the thousands.
Which is a raster image file format?
A raster image file is a rectangular array of regularly sampled values, known as pixels. Each pixel (picture element) has one or more numbers associated with it, specifying a color which the pixel should be displayed in.
What is a good dpi?
You can also refer to these recommended settings for the common types of computer games. You need a 1000 DPI to 1600 DPI for MMOs and RPG games. A lower 400 DPI to 1000 DPI is best for FPS and other shooter games. A 1000 DPI to 1200 DPI is the best setting for Real-Time strategy games.
When should I use 300 dpi?
It’s the same thing when you want to print photos into posters or albums. If you want your poster to be 24 inches wide, you need to send the printing company an image that is at least 24 inches x 300DPI = 7200 pixels wide.
What kind of raster graphics do I need for an offset printer?
Most offset printers will need your raster graphics to be at least 240 dpi. This is because the average offset press is not capable of printing more information on paper that what is carried in a 240 dpi image. For our high definition presses we recommend 350 dpi, with 300 being acceptable for most production work.
What kind of image do you need for printing?
Not to get a pixelated printed picture, you need a high-resolution image at a minimum of 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch). This depends on many factors like the size of the print, the distance people will see it from, etc. If you want to get a transparent background, JPEG or other raster graphic formats won’t work.
How are pixels rendered in a raster graphic?
For example, when rendering a diagonal line with a raster graphic, pixels that are half inside and half outside the line will be rendered as a mix between the line color and the background color resulting in a slightly fuzzy edge.
What’s the difference between raster and vector graphics?
Raster graphics (also called bitmaps) are made up of rectangular pixels. Each of them contains one color. They are arranged in a grid to form the final image. Vector graphics are composed of paths to form different shapes like polygons which eventually form the image.
