What does RF required mean on an approach plate?

When the PBN approach procedure contains advanced PBN functions, which are in addition to what is required in the PBN NavSpec, the procedure will be annotated with the advanced function. “RF Required” (RF stands for Radius to Fix, a type of leg transition discussed in AC 90-105A)
What is a no-gyro approach?
A no-gyro approach is an ASR/PAR performed when you lose primary heading information. During this. approach, the controller will call your turns by transmitting “turn right/turn left” and “stop turn.” Therefore, you must perform standard rate turns not to exceed 30 AOB in the pattern and half standard rate turns on.
Is RNAV part of PBN?
PBN exists under the umbrella of area navigation (RNAV). The term RNAV in this context, as in procedure titles, just means “area navigation,” regardless of the equipment capability of the aircraft.
Why do you need radar on an instrument approach?
Radar is required because there are no “published non-radar transitions” for this approach. Since most (almost all) instrument approach procedures are designed to allow a non-radar transition from the enroute phase of flight to the approach phase, any instrument approach that does not have published transitions requires “Radar.”
When to use ADF or radar for an instrument approach?
Should an ATC surveillance system also be available for vectoring an aircraft to a segment of an instrument approach, the FAA can use the word “or” to identify this an option. “ADF or RADAR required for (segment of approach),” (i.e., if ADF is required for the segment of the approach and/or RADAR is available)
When is radar or other equipment required outside the final approach?
When radar or other equipment is required on portions of the procedure outside the final approach segment, including the missed approach, a note is charted in the notes box of the pilot briefing portion of the approach chart (for example, RADAR REQUIRED or DISTANCE MEASURING EQUIPMENT (DME) REQUIRED).
Can a radar approach be given to an aircraft in distress?
Radar approaches may be given to any aircraft at the pilot’s request. ATC may also offer radar approach options to aircraft in distress regardless of the weather conditions or as necessary to expedite traffic.
