What happens to an aircraft when it stalls?
When an airplane stalls, it’s no longer able to produce lift. When this occurs, there’s an insufficient amount of air traveling under the airplane’s wings to keep it up. As a result, the airplane will drop, thereby reducing its altitude, until the angle of attack is correctly adjusted.

The two-axis autopilot system installed in most general aviation aircraft controls the pitch and roll of the aircraft. The autopilot can operate independently, controlling heading and altitude, or it can be coupled to a navigation system and fly a programmed course or an approach with glideslope.

CFIs repeat it like a mantra: An airplane can stall at any airspeed, in any pitch attitude. Stall speed increases as weight increases, since wings need to fly at a higher angle of attack to generate enough lift for a given airspeed.
Can a airplane stop in the air?
No a plane doesn’t stop in midair, planes need to keep moving forward to remain in the air (unless they are VTOL capable). What it can do is simply turn around or go over/under the obstruction. VTOL means vertical takeoff and landing. It essentially means they can hover in place like a helicopter.

Autopilot is a hands-on driver assistance system that is intended to be used only with a fully attentive driver. It does not turn a Tesla into a self-driving car nor does it make a car autonomous.
What does autopilot and full self driving capability mean?
Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capability are intended for use with a fully attentive driver, who has their hands on the wheel and is prepared to take over at any moment. While these features are designed to become more capable over time, the currently enabled features do not make the vehicle autonomous.
You can also activate Navigate on Autopilot automatically any time a destination is entered and Autopilot is engaged by adjusting your Navigate on Autopilot settings from Controls > Autopilot > Customize Navigate on Autopilot.
