What happens when you mix old and new batteries?
Never use old and new batteries together, as this may cause leakage or worse. This causes that when used together with one or more fresh batteries, that this used battery will lose capacity and voltage faster than the new batteries, which could cause eventually an over discharge and leakage of that battery.
Can I connect old and new batteries in parallel?
No, you should not mix old and new battery cartridges within the same Smart-UPS system. As VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) batteries age, their capacity is reduced. Your Smart-UPS batteries are connected in parallel and all batteries are charged at the same rate.
