What is a digitally signed email?
A digital signature attached to an email message offers another layer of security by providing assurance to the recipient that you—not an imposter—signed the contents of the email message. Your digital signature, which includes your certificate and public key, originates from your digital ID.
How does digitally signed email work?
A digital signature only requires the sender (the signer) to have cryptographic keys (a private key and a public key). The sender signs the message locally on his/her device (using sender’s private key). Furthermore, the receiver verifies it on his device by using sender’s public key.
