What is a PCB terminal block used for?
PCB terminal blocks are modular, insulated devices that mount on printed circuit boards (PCBs) and secure two or more wires together. Terminal blocks are used to secure and/or terminate wires and, in their simplest form, consist of several individual terminals arranged in a long strip.
How many amps does a ceiling light need?
A lighting circuit is protected by a 5- or 6-amp fuse or circuit breaker. This fuse size allows bulbs with a maximum combined wattage of 1150 watts (5 amps x 230 volts) or 1380 watts (6 amps x 230 volts) to be run off the circuit.
How many amps is a lighting circuit?
Lighting circuits do not require large currents. Typically, a circuit breaker or fuse of 6 amps is used. The conductors in lighting cables therefore need not be very thick. One 100 Watt bulb uses less than half an amp as shown below.
Can you mix solid and stranded wire?
Stranded and solid can be mixed.
How do you put wire into terminal block?
Insert wire into terminal block and screw down clamp or screw onto combined wire end + insulated end. The screw or clamp both makes contact with the conductor and also clamps the insulation rather than just the conductor. I’ll add a diagram if this does not get run out of town on a rail.
How big does a PCB terminal block need to be?
• For conductor cross sections from 0.14 mm2 (AWG 26) to 95 mm2 (AWG 3/0) • For currents up to 232 A (IEC) / 200 A (UL B, C) • For voltages up to 1000 V (IEC) / 600 V (UL B, C) • With screw, spring and insulation displacement connection for various connection directions • For pitches from 2.5 mm to 20 mm • For wave, THR and SMT soldering
How are PCB terminal blocks integrated with Phoenix Contact?
Thanks to uniform design and flushed housing ends, it is possible to optimally integrate PCB terminal blocks from Phoenix Contact into the device fronts. This enables you to implement economic panel feed-throughs based on the standard range. Integration of components into automated assembly processes reduces lead times and process costs.
What’s the best way to insulate a terminal block?
Bend wire back over outside of insulation and wind it in a spiral so it wraps completely around the outside of the insulation several times and extends back by about the depth of the terminal block hole. Insert wire into terminal block and screw down clamp or screw onto combined wire end + insulated end.
