What is a read only register?
A read-only register is a special type of register that can only be read by the programmer. Read-only registers are typically used for things such as status registers, certain control registers, hardware timers, counters, and data buses where data is only transmitted.
What is a read register?
A shared (read/write) register, sometimes just called a register, is a fundamental type of shared data structure which stores a value and has two operations: read, which returns the value stored in the register, and write, which updates the value stored.
How do I verify a write only register?
Do a full register write (32-bits) with a unique pattern eg: 0x1234_5678 . Then read every byte of the register back with 8-bit reads and check the result. Invert the pattern and write each byte individually into every byte of the register. Read back the whole register, after every write and check the result.
What is a register in I2C?
IRD (I2C Register Description) stands for a technology which introduces an entirely new level of device access. Instead of working with addresses, offsets and byte values the user is provided with a comprehensive view of device registers which are given by the names used in the data sheets.
What is stored in program counter?
The program counter (sometimes called instruction pointer) is a special-purpose register that contains the memory address of the next instruction to be executed. Every instruction is fetched from external memory at the address in the program counter, and stored in the instruction register.
How does a register file work?
Register files have one word line per entry per port, one bit line per bit of width per read port, and two bit lines per bit of width per write port. Each bit cell also has a Vdd and Vss. Therefore, the wire pitch area increases as the square of the number of ports, and the transistor area increases linearly.
How do you write a register?
The write byte protocol is as follows:
- The master sends a start command (S).
- The master sends the 7-bit slave address followed by a write bit (R/W = 0).
- The addressed slave asserts an acknowledge (A) by pulling SDA low.
- The master sends an 8-bit register pointer.
- The slave acknowledges the register pointer.
Can Bit be tested in a register?
BTS (Bit Test and Set) operates the same, but also sets the bit in the register, while BTR (Bit Test and Reset) resets it, and BTC (Bit Test and Complement) flips it.
How do I check my UVM registration?
Learning Objectives
- Use the features and capabilities of the UVM register layer.
- Create configurable and reusable reference models for register behavior.
- Integrate the register model into your verification environments using appropriate prediction.
- Create self-checking sequences to verify register and memory behavior.
Is I2C MSB first?
Data is transferred Most Significant Bit (MSB) first. Any number of data bytes can be transferred from the master to slave between the START and STOP conditions.
