What is back end data?
A back-end database is a database that is accessed by users indirectly through an external application rather than by application programming stored within the database itself or by low level manipulation of the data (e.g. through SQL commands). The back-end database concept was invented by Microsoft in 1989.
What is back end client?

How does the front end communicate with the back end?
Frontend and backend communicate with each other – via Http requests. The frontend will, for example, send entered data to the backend. The backend might then again validate that data (since frontend code can be tricked) and finally store it in some database.

How are databases used in the back end?
Databases are commonly used on the back-end of web applications. These databases provide an interface to save data in a persistent way to memory. Storing the data in a database both reduces the load on the main memory of the server CPU and allows the data to be retrieved if the server crashes or loses power.
Which is the back end of the application?
The back-end is the code that runs on the server, that receives requests from the clients, and contains the logic to send the appropriate data back to the client. The back-end also includes the database, which will persistently store all of the data for the application.
