Back-face culling is a method in computer graphics programming which determines whether a polygon of a graphical object is visible. If not visible, the polygon is “culled” from rendering process, which increases efficiency by reducing the number of polygons that the hardware has to draw.

I can’t find where to turn on backface culling in 2.8. Anyone know where it is? Thanks. Should be in the overlays menu. Is there a backface culling feature in Maya?
Backface culling works fine with camera-based selection enabled….but I always have this feature turned off. When modeling, half of the time I also need to select backfaces, edges, and vertices. Backface culling works as normal in Maya 2016 viewport 2.0, at least in my case. I may have to continue using this version of Maya for the time being.
Why is backface culling ignored in viewport 2.0?
1. Tool Settings (“Camera-based selection”), and 2. Backface Culling (in Shape settings), will be ignored for selections in Viewport 2.0 while X-Ray mode is active. How to enable or disable backface culling in Eevee?
To enable or disable Backface Culling when Viewport Shading is set to Solid mode using the Eevee renderer, click the Viewport Shading options drop-down, upper far-right of the 3D View and then the Backface Culling checkbox in Options to enable. All objects in the 3D View immediately display with their backfaces no longer rendered.
