What is bidirectional replication database?
Bidirectional transactional replication is a specific transactional replication topology that allows two servers to exchange changes with each other: each server publishes data and then subscribes to a publication with the same data from the other server.
How could we configure an SQL Server Always On Availability Group with a multi subnet network?
Right click on the SQL Server service and select properties. Select the “AlwaysOn High Availability” tab, and check the box to enable it. You will see the Windows cluster name which will be automatically fetched by this service in the “Windows failover cluster name” section.
Is bidirectional replication setup available in MySQL?
This is a configuration where data can be written to two different MySQL servers and changes made on either server will be sent over to the other so both have all of the changes.
How to configure replication with SQL availability groups?
If both transactional and merge replication are to be configured for the database, each must be enabled. Create the replication publication, articles, and subscriptions. For more information about how to configure replication, see Publishing Data and Database objects.
Can a distribution database be placed in an availability group?
Placing the distribution database into an availability group is supported with SQL 2016 and greater, except for distribution databases used in merge, bidirectional, or peer-to-peer replication topologies. For more information, see Configure distribution database in an availability group.
How to set up replication on a database?
In the event that a secondary replica transitions to the primary role, it must be configured so that the secondary can take over after a failover. All possible publishers will connect to the subscriber using a linked server. To create a linked server to the subscriber, SRV4 , run the below query on the possible publishers: SRV2 and SRV3.
Can a distributor be on a replication server?
The distributor should not be on the current (or intended) replica of the availability group of which the publishing database is part of. This just means that Distributor in our case, should not be on SRV1, SRV 2, SRV3 because these servers are part of the AG that has the publishing database (MyNorthWind).
