What is DTMF iPhone?
DTMF tones are used with the voice network by your carrier to signal dialing equipment, and also used to make choices with automatic voice response equipment. If you’re having an issue with these tones, there isn’t a setting on your iPhone which affect these tones.

VoIP & Issues with DTMF. DTMF (Dual Tone Multi-frequency) are signals/tones that are sent when you press a telephone’s touch keys. At times you may find that the far end will not recognize or react correctly to the input you made from your phone. These problems are typically DTMF issues.
Why does my iPhone not have a dial tone?
This generally only happens when the Keypad is active in the Phone app and the the phone isn’t in “Silent mode”. These sounds are usually refered to as “Touch-Tone” (not dial tone). This is actually dual-tone multi-frequency signaling (DTMF).

As soon as I turned off WiFi calling on the phone settings in addition to having the additional bars on the iPhone I was successfully able to use the DTMF tones to call into the phone numbers I was not able to access before. I have tested it repeatedly now and the problem is entirely fixed.
Why is my iPhone 4S not recognizing dtfm?
I too am having the same issue with my iPhone 4s. The DTFM is not being recognized despite the reset. It appears the ios 8 update interferes with the Sprint AirRave. If you are outside the house, the phone should be able to pass DTMF. Supposedly Sprint is aware of the issue and is working with Apple to resolve.
Why are my touch tones not recognized on my iPhone 6 Plus?
If I use Wifi Calling, the DTMF codes are not recognized. If I turn off wifi calling (which is NOT an option where I live) then the tones are recognized just fine. This really does need to be addressed.
Why are my DTMF Touch tones no longer working?
Sometime in the last couple of days (today is Jan. 24), something changed and now I can’t send DTMF tones during a call anymore. (Dual Tone Multiple Frequencies, i.e. the touch-tone sounds you use to navigate bank-by-phone or calling in for support, etc.)
