What is GPU batching?
See in Glossary. GPU Instancing only renders identical Meshes with each draw call, but each instance can have different parameters (for example, color or scale) to add variation and reduce the appearance of repetition. GPU Instancing can reduce the number of draw calls used per Scene.
How do I run a process on my GPU?
With NVIDIA, it’s really easy Return to your desktop. Right-click the app you want to force to use the dedicated GPU. The right-click context menu will have a ‘Run with graphics processor’ option. Select ‘High-performance NVIDIA processor’ from the sub-options and the app will run using your dedicated GPU.
Is batch render faster?
What is batch rendering? A method of rendering launched in a separate session of Maya, using a saved copy of a scene file. Batch renders allow you to continue working on a scene while it is being rendered, launch renders remotely, and render scenes faster than from within the Maya user interface.
How to make the GPU draw more primitives?
In 2D, we need to tell the GPU to render a series of primitives (rectangles, lines, polygons etc). The most obvious technique is to tell the GPU to render one primitive at a time, telling it some information such as the texture used, the material, the position, size, etc. then saying “Draw!” (this is called a draw call).
How are batch size and GPU memory limitations affect neural networks?
It has an impact on the resulting accuracy of models, as well as on the performance of the training process. The range of possible val u es for the batch size is limited today by the available GPU memory. As the neural network gets larger, the maximum batch size that can be run on a single GPU gets smaller.
What happens when you increase the batch size?
It is now clearly noticeable that increasing the batch size will directly result in increasing the required GPU memory. In many cases, not having enough GPU memory prevents us from increasing the batch size. Let’s now see how we could break the GPU memory boundaries and still use larger batch sizes.
How to train a very large and deep model on one GPU?
Imaging that you are training VGG-16 with batch size 128 (which takes 14GB memory if there is no offloading/prefetching) on a 12GB GPU. It might be too wastful to use only about 2GB memory, because you can use more space to alleviate the performance loss.
