What is horizontal tree?
A subsea horizontal tree is designed so that all flow control valves are outside the central wellbore. A horizontal tree is well known as a workover friendly tree because it offers easy access for tubing retrieval because the valves are not located at the centre of the wellbore.
Is a tree vertical or horizontal?
Subsea production trees can be segmented into two main types: horizontal trees and vertical trees. Horizontal trees are so called because the primary valves are arranged in a horizontal configuration, and likewise vertical trees have the primary valves arranged in a vertical configuration.
What is spool tree?
The subsea SpoolTree system (also known as “Horizontal” or “Valveless” tree) features a spool with a wellhead connector below and a wellhead connector profile on top; the tubing hanger is hung off inside the spool; the valves are situated on the side of the spool and there are no valves in the vertical bore of the …
What is a vertical subsea tree?
Two type of subsea Christmas tree are vertical Christmas trees and horizontal Christmas trees. They are different because of valves arrangement. The vertical trees have all valves arranged vertically; whereas, the valves in the horizontal tree are positioned horizontally.
What is a crown plug?
In the context of subsea, a crown plug is a plug that fits in the bore of a subsea tree to serve as the secondary barrier against reservoir pressure.
What is a subsea tree?
Used on offshore oil and gas fields, a subsea tree monitors and controls the production of a subsea well. Fixed to the wellhead of a completed well, subsea trees can also manage fluids or gas injected into the well. Subsea trees are used in offshore field developments worldwide, from shallow to ultra-deepwaters.
How does a tubing hanger work?
A tubing hanger is a component used in the completion of oil and gas production wells. It is set in the tree or the wellhead and suspends the production tubing and/or casing. Sometimes it provides porting to allow the communication of hydraulic, electric and other downhole functions, as well as chemical injection.
What is a tubing head spool?
The Tubing Head is the uppermost spool in a wellhead assembly. The lower section houses a secondary seal to isolate the production casing string and provide a means to test the wellhead seals. Threaded or weld-on tubing heads attach directly to the production casing. Provides a sealing point over the production casing.
