What is information rights management system?
Share: Information Rights Management (IRM) is a form of IT security technology used to protect documents containing sensitive information from unauthorized access. IRM protects files from unauthorized copying, viewing, printing, forwarding, deleting, and editing.
How do you use Information Rights Management?
Go to the list or library for which you want to configure IRM. On the ribbon, click the Library tab, and then click Library Settings. (If you are working in a list, click the List tab, and then click List Settings). Under Permissions and Management, click Information Rights Management.
How does information rights management work?
A digital rights management (DRM) system, using a secret key, encrypts content to make it unwatchable so that only somebody who has the key can decrypt and watch it. But that key, like all digital information, is easy to copy and share so on its own it is not sufficient to protect the content.
What is IRM in o365?
Information Rights Management is a feature that is only available on the Enterprise Office 365 Plans. It allows you control the security of your data, and prevent users from printing, marking up your documents or even accessing them after a specified period of time.
How do you set IRM?
Enable Basic Information Rights Management for SharePoint
- Open the SharePoint Admin Center.
- Click on the ‘settings’ link in the left panel.
- At Information Rights Management (IRM), Enable the radio button for Use the IRM settings.
- Click on the Refresh IRM Settings button.
How do I open an information rights management document?
To view rights-managed content that you have permissions to by using Office, just open the document. IRM in Office for Mac 2016 provides three permission levels. On the Review tab, under Protection, select Permissions, and then select Restricted Access.
