What is Lua based firmware?
Overview. NodeMCU is an open source firmware for which open source prototyping board designs are available. The firmware uses the Lua scripting language. The firmware is based on the eLua project, and built on the Espressif Non-OS SDK for ESP8266.
Can you use Lua on Arduino?
This Arduino library provides the lua 5.3. 4 scripting engine for ESP8266 sketches. This allows dynamic execution of code on Arduino without having to compile and flash a new firmware.
How do you upload your code to the Arduino?
How to Upload a Sketch to an Arduino
- Connect your Arduino using the USB cable.
- Choose Tools→Board→Arduino Uno to find your board in the Arduino menu.
- Choose the correct serial port for your board.
- Click the Upload button.
Can a LUA be connected to an Arduino?
On galileo, the arduino is connected by serial port, as it is needed for sketch upload, so as long as LUA give you some library to manipulate serial port, you are good to go for this solution.
How can I upload a program to Arduino?
The IDE (Integrated Development Environment) is used to write code, compile programs, and upload them to the Arduino for it to execute. The IDE can be downloaded from Arduino’s website here. I used the portable one, so all I had to do was extract it to a folder and run the executable.
How to upload a sketch to an Arduino?
To get the code running on the Arduino, click Sketch then Upload. The upload step will also do the verify/compile step, so there’s no need to click it separately for the purposes of this guide. The RX and TX LEDs should flicker a little as the IDE sends the code to the board. TX and RX LEDs on an Arduino UNO WiFi Rev 2
Can you use Arduino IDE to program NodeMCU?
Note: When you use the NodeMCU with the Arduino IDE, it will write directly to the firmware, of NodeMCU erasing the original firmware, So if you want back the Lua SDK, use the “flasher” to re-install the firmware. You can download the flasher from their Github page https://github.com/nodemcu/nodemcu-flasher.
