What is optical flow method?
Optical flow, or motion estimation, is a fundamental method of calculating the motion of image intensities, which may be ascribed to the motion of objects in the scene. Optical-flow methods are based on computing estimates of the motion of the image intensities over time in a video.
What is optical flow data?
Optical flow or optic flow is the pattern of apparent motion of objects, surfaces, and edges in a visual scene caused by the relative motion between an observer and a scene. Optical flow can also be defined as the distribution of apparent velocities of movement of brightness pattern in an image.
What is optical flow image?
An optical flow sensor is a vision sensor capable of measuring optical flow or visual motion and output a displacement measurement based on optical flow (image Pixels counts). This sensor have wide applications and be used for quadcopter position and altitude holding (hovering).
What is sparse Optical Flow?
Sparse optical flow selects a sparse feature set of pixels (e.g. interesting features such as edges and corners) to track its velocity vectors (motion). The extracted features are passed in the optical flow function from frame to frame to ensure that the same points are being tracked.
What is Optical Flow in object tracking?
Optical flow is one of the efficient approaches to track the movement of objects. Optical flow studies the relative motion of objects across different frame sequences based on the velocity of movement of objects and illumination changes.
What are the components of the optical flow?
Here, u and v are the x and y components of the optical flow, I1 and I2 are two images taken at times t = 1 and t = 2 respectively, and window_size is a 1 × 2 vector storing the width and height of the window used during flow computation.
What does flownetc stand for in optical flow?
FlowNetC which stands for Flownet Correlated. It was originally introduced in the FlowNet 2015 paper, it was meant to be an improvement on FlowNetS which had high EPE compared to traditional optical flow implementations. A visual summary of the algorithm is as follows:
How is the loss function for optical flow calculated?
The loss function for calculating optical flow is done by making use of the end point error. This is shown diagrammatically as: The end-to-end point error is calculated by comparing the predicted optical flow vector with the ground truth (expected) optical flow vector, and is the Euclidean distance between the two vectors.
How to implement the Lucas Kanade optical flow algorithm?
In this article an implementation of the Lucas-Kanade optical flow algorithm is going to be described. This problem appeared as an assignment in this computer vision course from UCSD.
