What is QFP and QFN?

What is QFP and QFN?

The most common IC package types for larger critical components such as microcontrollers are the QFP (Quad Flat Package) and QFN (Quad Flat No-leads) packages. The need for X-Ray Inspection increases the cost of assembly for QFN parts compared to their QFP counterparts.

What is difference between QFN and DFN?

The DFN is similar to the QFN, except that the latter has lands all around the periphery of the package instead of just two sides like the DFN. Because the DFN has no leads and has shorter bond wire lengths, it provides a higher electrical performance than leaded packages due to less inductance.

What does TQFP stand for?

thin quad flat pack
A thin quad flat pack (TQFP) provides the same benefits as the metric QFP, but is thinner. Regular QFP are 2.0 to 3.8 mm thick depending on size. TQFP packages range from 32 pins with a 0.8 mm lead pitch, in a package 5 mm by 5 mm by 1 mm thick, to 256 pins, 28 mm square, 1.4 mm thick and a lead pitch of 0.4 mm.

What does Tqfp stand for?

What’s the difference between a QFP and QFN package?

QFP and QFN packages both have all of their pins exposed around the outer edge of the part footprint, allowing for easier routing without the need for costly special requirements like Blind / Buried Vias or Via in Pad .

Which is better for PCB fabrication QFP or QFN?

The smaller form factor of QFN parts can allow for a smaller overall board size on your project, which can be necessary in order to meet design requirements, but also has an advantage in PCB Fabrication.

Which is easier to lay out, a QFP or a TQFP?

Unless you need the heatsinking effect of the large middle ground pad, you may find the QFP easier to lay out the PCB for. A QFP provides room under the chip to put vias, possibly making fan-out easier. Thanks for contributing an answer to Electrical Engineering Stack Exchange!

Is there a free version of QFN or tqfn?

The free version won’t let you export or anything but it does let you measure all the layers… it’ll give you enough info to get a good reference library going. In my experience QFN and TQFN are pretty similar (for example that program doesn’t list TQFN, only QFN).
