What is RAMP loss?
The ramp loss is a robust but non-convex loss for classification. Compared with other non-convex losses, a local minimum of the ramp loss can be effectively found. The effec- tiveness of local search comes from the piecewise linearity of the ramp loss.
What is the loss function in SVM?
The loss function of SVM is very similar to that of Logistic Regression. Looking at it by y = 1 and y = 0 separately in below plot, the black line is the cost function of Logistic Regression, and the red line is for SVM. Please note that the X axis here is the raw model output, θᵀx.
Why do we lose hinges?
The hinge loss is a loss function used for training classifiers, most notably the SVM. A negative distance from the boundary incurs a high hinge loss. This essentially means that we are on the wrong side of the boundary, and that the instance will be classified incorrectly.
Is the ramp function satisfies the differential equation?
Second derivative. The ramp function satisfies the differential equation: where δ(x) is the Dirac delta. This means that R(x) is a Green’s function for the second derivative operator. Thus, any function, f(x), with an integrable second derivative, f″(x), will satisfy the equation:
When is the ramp function used as an activation function?
In artificial neural networks, when the ramp function is used as an activation function, it is known as a rectifier, by analogy with the electrical rectifier.
Is the ramp function an unary real function?
The ramp function is a unary real function, whose graph is shaped like a ramp.
What is the ramp function of a call option?
Payoff and profits from buying a call option. In finance, the payoff of a call option is a ramp (shifted by strike price ). Horizontally flipping a ramp yields a put option, while vertically flipping (taking the negative) corresponds to selling or being “short” an option.
