What is SMS password?
In the context of SMSPassword a SMS Password is a one-time password password send by means of SMS. The term “SMS” is used for both the user activity and all types of short text messaging in many parts of the world. SMS is also employed in direct marketing, known as SMS marketing.
Is it safe to send passwords via WhatsApp?
The encryption key is a major fault of WhatsApp messaging service. Malicious people often take this key or copy it and use it to access your WhatsApp account. Any kind of message that you feel it is sensitive; do not send it via WhatsApp instead using secure messaging service such as Telegram, Redphone and others.
What is the password for the SMS app?
The default password is “MeapSmsLogin” (case sensitive). Click [Service Management Service] on the Remote UI portal page. Enter the password → click [Log In]. If SMS is idle for longer than five minutes, it will timeout and you are automatically logged out.
Why do we send passwords through text messages?
Sending the password through sms/texting was, as far as I can tell, originally intended to be used to ensure the password came in through a different medium than the encrypted file you were receiving the password for. An encrypted file would be sent through email and the user would receive a plain-text sms on his phone with a password.
Are there any security concerns with SMS authentication?
Nevertheless, some concerns about SMS authentication remain valid. SMS channels can be attacked by smartphone malware and SS7 hacks. In addition, message forwarding and number changes mean that access to messages does not always prove possession of a device. NIST has not ignored this uncertainty.
Is the SMS service a secure message service?
SMS is not an IP service; instead it uses a specialized telecommunications signaling system called SS7 (watch the 2 S, very secure, see below for more ;-). That independence qualifies SMS as a second factor to convey the other key.
