What is stabilize approach?
A stabilized approach is one in which the pilot establishes and maintains a constant angle glidepath towards a predetermined point on the landing runway. It is based on the pilot’s judgment of certain visual clues, and depends on the maintenance of a constant final descent airspeed and configuration.
How do you get a stabilized approach?
An approach is stabilised when all of the following criteria are met:
- The aircraft is on the correct flight path.
- Only small changes in heading/pitch are necessary to maintain the correct flight path.
- The airspeed is not more than VREF + 20kts indicated speed and not less than VREF
What is a factor that contributes to an unstabilized approach?

What is a final approach point?

What is short final approach?
Final means you’re lined up with the extended centerline of the runway on approach. You could still be several miles out. “Short final” usually means you are very close to touchdown.
