How do multi band antennas work?
A multiband antenna is an antenna designed to operate in multiple bands of frequencies. Multiband antennas use a design in which one part of the antenna is active for one band, while another part is active for a different band.
What frequencies are in the 160 meter band?
160-meter band refers to the band of radio frequencies between 1.8 and 2 MHz, just above the medium wave broadcast band. For many decades the lowest radio frequency band allocated for use by amateur radio, before the adoption, at the beginning of the 21st century in most countries, of the 630- and 2200-meter bands.
What frequency is 630 meters?
The 630-meter (or 600-meter) amateur radio band is a frequency band allocated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to amateur radio operators, and it ranges from 472–479 kHz, or equivalently 625.9–635.1 meters wavelength.
What is top band on ham radio?
Top Band is the lowest frequency ham radio allocation. Although it is termed one of the short wave bands and is often mentioned with the other HF amateur radio bands, to be exact it is actually in the MF portion of the spectrum.
Is the 160 meter antenna a single band?
This 160 meter antenna is a “single band” antenna. The 160 meter band is not harmonically related to higher HF bands (except perhaps for the 60 meter band). The 160 meter band is not harmonically related to higher HF bands (except perhaps for the 60 meter band).
How big of a dipole do you need for a 160 meter antenna?
I finally managed to ‘squeeze’ in a resonant 160 meter antenna on my property… and it works! Normally, a dipole for 160 meters requires at least 260 feet of horizontal space, plus supporting ropes at each end.

I would like to hear your opinion’s and if possible with a link to how to built one. In your opinion wich is the best 160m antenna to build.
Why is a 160m antenna used for ham radio?
It is basically a “filter tuner” which means it works as a band pass filter (BPF). It passes frequencies at or near its point of resonance, while dramatically reducing the signal strengith of 2nd or 3rd harmonic signals. The parallel circuit used here was chosen because the antenna is so very small, its radiation resistance so very low on 160m.
