What is the difference between voltage-clamp and current clamp?
Unlike in the voltage clamp mode, where the membrane potential is held at a level determined by the experimenter, in “current clamp” mode the membrane potential is free to vary, and the amplifier records whatever voltage the cell generates on its own or as a result of stimulation.
What is the difference between voltage-clamp and patch clamp?
In the voltage-clamp configuration, a current is injected into the cell via a negative feedback loop to compensate changes in membrane potential. Recording this current allows conclusions about the membrane conductance. The patch-clamp technique allows the investigation of a small set or even single ion channels.
What is the difference between clipping and clamping?
The major difference between clipper and clamper is that clipper is a limiting circuit which limits the output voltage while clamper is a circuit which shifts the DC level of output voltage. While clamper is used when we need multiples of the input voltage at the output terminal.
What is a diode clamp?
A clamp diode is where both characteristics of being applied in a circuit to manipulate the input voltage. Clamping diodes can function as a level shifter or can be used to guard components against transient voltages.
How does the DC component in a clamper circuit work?
In other words, the clamper circuit moves the whole signal up or down to set either the positive peak or negative peak of the signal at the desired level. The dc component is simply added to the input signal or subtracted from the input signal.
When do you need to clamp the MAF or map signal?
If you want to add a turbo or supercharger to an engine or raise the boost on a factory equipped turbo engine, you might have to clamp the signals of the MAF or MAP sensors.
When is a positive clamper circuit said to be positive?
When a negative peak of the signal is raised above to the zero level, then the signal is said to be positively clamped. A Positive Clamper circuit is one that consists of a diode, a resistor and a capacitor and that shifts the output signal to the positive portion of the input signal.
How is the positive clamper connected to the diode?
In the below circuit diagram, the diode is connected in parallel with the output load. So the positive clamper passes the input signal to the output load when the diode is reverse biased and blocks the input signal when the diode is forward biased.
