Non-authoritative answer simply means the answer is not fetched from the authoritative DNS server for the queried domain name.
What is a non-authoritative response in DNS?
Non-authoritative name servers do not contain the original zone files. They may have a cache with previously requested DNS records from all the DNS lookups done previously. If a DNS server responded to a DNS query that doesn’t have the zone file, it is a Non-authoritative answer.
The authoritative DNS server is the final holder of the IP of the domain you are looking for. When you write a domain name in your browser, a DNS query is sent to your internet service provider (ISP). The ISP has a recursive server, which might have the needed information cached in its memory.
How do you find the authoritative response?
12 Answers. You’ll want the SOA (Start of Authority) record for a given domain name, and this is how you accomplish it using the universally available nslookup command line tool: command line> nslookup > set querytype=soa > stackoverflow.com Server: 217.30. 180.230 Address: 217.30.
An authoritative answer comes from a Nameserver (NS) that is considered authoritative for the domain which it’s returning a record for (one of the nameservers in the list for the domain you did a lookup on).
How do I know what DNS server is authoritative?
To find out who is responsible for DNS hosting of a domain, you need to find the authoritative DNS servers (or Name Servers) for that domain. A list of DNS servers authoritative for the domain is shown in the Name Server (NS) record. To find this record, you can use the NSLOOKUP tool.
There are two types of DNS servers: authoritative and recursive. Authoritative nameservers are like the phone book company that publishes multiple phone books, one per region. Recursive DNS servers are like someone who uses a phone book to look up the number to contact a person or company.
What is the job of an authoritative DNS server?
These are called authoritative DNS servers. Authoritative DNS nameservers are responsible for providing answers to recursive DNS nameservers about where specific websites can be found. These answers contain important information for each domain, like IP addresses.
What is the main DNS problem?
DNS errors occur essentially because you’re unable to connect to an IP address, signaling that you may have lost network or internet access. DNS stands for Domain Name System.
Our generation has a problem about authority. In church and in state we use the word ‘authority’ in different ways, some positive and some negative. We use it in secular senses. We say of a great footballer that he stamped his authority on the game.
How to get an authoritative answer from a DNS server?
You can get an authoritative answer by querying the authoritative nameserver for the domain you are interested in. Finding the authoritative nameserver (through nslookup alone) can be tricky, I think (I’ve had some interesting experiences in this sense with www.redhat.com ). Both authoritative and authoritarian parents hold very high standards and control over the kids’ behavior. However, authoritarian parents also impose tight psychological control over their kids. They believe that they are the authorities who are always right.
Do you think the Bible has too much authority?
(1) I shall argue that usual views of the Bible—including usual evangelical views of the Bible—are actually too low, and do not give it the sufficient weight that it ought to have. (2) I shall then suggest a different way of envisioning authority from that which I think most Christians normally take. Authority?
