What is the purpose of canard wing?
Canards are part of an airplane that functions as a stabilizer or elevator and installed in front of the main wing. A canard is used for several reasons such as increasing lifting force, the stability of the aircraft’s controls and flow changes over the main wing.
How does a canard wing work?
The canard is essentially moves your horizontal tail up to your nose, and places the wing’s center of lift behind the center of gravity. To balance the natural nose down tendency, the canard generates an upward lifting force – which helps oppose weight.

A canard actually creates lift to hold the nose up in contrast with a aft-tail design which creates a downward force to balance the aircraft preventing a nose down rotation. Canards can be designed either as the equivalent to an aft-tail control surface with similar size or as a tandem wing with the main wing.
