What is Timing Closure in Physical design?
Timing closure is the process of satisfying timing constraints through layout optimizations and netlist modifications. It is common to use verbal expressions such as “the design has closed timing” when the design satisfies all timing constraints.
What is timing closure in FPGA?
Timing Closure is the area of the design flow that can cause the most frustration to FPGA designers. FPGA device logic density has increased by approximately 30X, and the amount of embedded memory has increased by approximately 70X.
What is timing netlist?
You open this dialog box by clicking Create Timing Netlist on the Netlist menu in the TimeQuest Timing Analyzer. Allows you to configure and load the timing netlist that the TimeQuest analyzer uses to calculate path delay data.
What is timing and logic?
Combinatorial logic components (logic gates) have specified delays from the time an input changes until the output changes. These are called setup and hold times. Setup is the minimum time before clock edge by which all synchronous inputs must have completed their transitions and be at a valid logic level.
What is min period violation?
Min pulse width check is to ensure that pulse width of clock signal is more than required value. Basically it is based on frequency of operation and Technology. Means if frequency of design is 1Ghz than typical value of each high and low pulse width will be equal to (1ns/2) 0.5ns if duty cycle is 50%.

Why is design automation important for timing closure?
Design Automation for timing closure is more significant than ever before Designs are larger Wires are longer, invalidating statistical synthesis models, and requiring lots of buffers Cycle times are more aggressive ASPDAC03 – Physical Chip Implementation – Section IV 3 Jan. 2003 ASPDAC03 – Physical Chip Implementation 5
