What plastic are Legos made of?

This is the first Lego made from recycled material to meet the company’s quality, safety, and play standards. The prototype is made using PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic from discarded bottles. On average, a one-liter PET plastic bottle supplies enough raw material to make 10 2-by-4 Legos.
How much plastic does Lego use?
It’s estimated Lego uses 90,000 tonnes of plastic in its products and earlier this year a scientific study looking into how long plastic stays in the oceans revealed that Lego bricks could last more than 1,000 years underwater.
