What scale is used for the dependent variable?
nominal scale
These options are categorical and discrete, thus, the dependent variable is measured on a nominal scale of measurement. Similarly, the in-charge behavior is categorical and discrete (male vs. female) and is also measured on a nominal scale of measurement.
Do you need to scale y variable?
It is required to standardize variable before using k-nearest neighbors with an Euclidean distance measure. Standardization makes all variables to contribute equally. 4. All SVM kernel methods are based on distance so it is required to scale variables prior to running final Support Vector Machine (SVM) model.
Do you need to scale test data and dependent variable?
In that case, you can scale one of the features to the same range of the other. Commonly, we scale all the features to the same range (e.g. 0 – 1). In addition, remember that all the values you use to scale your training data must be used to scale the test data. As for the dependent variable y you do not need to scale it.
Why do I need to manually set the scaling of variables?
The default behavior of the software is to assume a different scaling for each set of variables in your model. These scale factors are by default automatically determined, but sometimes may need to be manually tuned. Scaling is often necessary for numerical purposes.
What are the four levels of dependent variables?
Levels of measurement of the dependent variable indicate the precision of the measurement. There are 4 levels of measurement: 1) nominal, 2) ordinal, 3) interval and 4) ratio.
How to manually set the scaling of variables-COMSOL?
Go to the Dependent Variables node and expand it, you will see separate nodes for each field being solved for within the model. Select each node and, in the Settings for that node, switch the Scaling Method to Manual and enter the expected peak magnitude of that field over the whole simulation timespan, as shown in the screenshot below.
