For most personal or business events or outdoor advertising, the recommended banner size is 3′ x 6′ or 4′ x 8′. The larger size allows your message and graphics to be seen from a distance. Effective banner text should be a minimum of 3” tall, which fits best on larger banner sizes.
At least 1200 pixels wide at 72 dpi, using JPEG compression. Try to max the size of the image to no more than 1 MB in size.

How do I make a high resolution banner in Photoshop?
Make sure to set the resolution to 72 pixels/inch in the RGB Color mode. If you’re using the template, just open the file you downloaded earlier. Next, drag and drop the image you downloaded onto the document in the Photoshop window. When you do this, you will be in Transform mode.
How big of a resolution do I need for a banner?
For very large banners, signs, and displays that are going to be viewed from a distance, 100 dpi resolution is perfectly fine and will make it easier to work with the files. Scaling: When scaling your raster-based files, keep in mind each time we need to double the size of your artwork, the resolution drops by half.
These items are printed at 300 PPI (DPI) because of the small size and the close viewing distance. Does my artwork need to be 300dpi? No. 300dpi is unnecessary, and we will downscale most files sent to us larger than 150dpi.
Apps other than Photoshop use similar settings. Setup your canvas or page size to the full size of the desired banner or sign in inches. Do not include bleed or crop marks. If you would like to order a 3×8 vinyl banner then create your page at 36 inches x 96 inches. Resolution should be set to 100dpi.
