What UL 2595?
UL 2595 : UL Standard for Safety General Requirements for Battery- Powered Appliances.
Are lithium-ion batteries UL listed?
Batteries with a UL Listing have been tested to meet nationally-recognized safety standards. An example of a UL Listed product would be a complete lithium-ion battery pack that has adhered to UL standard requirements and has undergone a rigorous testing process.
What is UL2054?
UL2054 is mainly aimed at lipo battery packs or lithium battery packs. These batteries consist of either a single electrochemical cell or two or more cells connected in series, parallel, or both, that convert chemical energy into electrical energy by chemical reaction.
Is a UL certification required for a low voltage portable device?
UL certification is not required by law for any product, last I checked about 15 years ago. UL requirements are complicated and cover a broad range of things other than electricity. Import and export becomes easier if you get a product UL/CSA certified.
What does ul stand for in battery safety?
Knowledge is power. At UL, we also believe power is meant to be shared. To promote a safer working environment, we offer effective online training to factory, assembly, maintenance, transportation and shipment workers across the entire battery value chain.
Why do you need a testing service like ul?
UL’s testing and certification services take the complexity out of getting your product to the global market, giving you and your customers the confidence that your product will connect right out-of-the-box and perform as expected.
What does a Class 2 ul power supply mean?
The “Class 2” means the external power supply is not itself a fire or shock hazard, but I think most of us would have no problem devising a load that would be capable of burning down buildings all day long. Consider disk drives, which typically carry UL component markings, despite being low voltage and having a power of only a few watts.
