Where do I put the M value in ArcGIS?
This tool copies the first m-value and last m-value into fields on the route feature. This allows you to store the starting and ending points for the route features relative to their positions on an entire route.
When does a feature intersect on a map?
Within maps, features can intersect, such as when a road crosses a railroad or a river crosses a road. The Intersection on Geometry check finds features that are within a certain tolerance of the intersection of two other linear features; for example, finding building points within a certain distance of road intersections.
How to expose Route M values as attributes?
Some of the tools used in this workflow require an ArcInfo or ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced license. Use the Feature Vertices to Points tool to convert the route vertices to points. Depending on which vertices need to be modified, the ALL or BOTH_ENDS option could be used.
Why are measure values stored as attributes in ArcGIS?
Exporting m-enabled data from the geodatabase to other data formats may remove the measure values in the geometry. Storing the starting and ending measures as attributes on the route ensures that events can still be referenced to the route when using other data formats.
How do you change route measures in ArcGIS?
Add a value to a route’s measures. Interpolate or extrapolate all route measures that are unknown (NaN). Set all route measures to NaN. There is no requirement that a route’s measures increase with the digitized direction. This method will flip a route’s geometry to match the direction in which the measures are increasing.
How to store starting and ending measures in ArcGIS?
Storing the starting and ending measures as attributes on the route ensures that events can still be referenced to the route when using other data formats. Start ArcMap. Load route features in the map or open an existing map document. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Editing.
How to change the m of a route?
In an Editor session select one route and use the Edit Vertices button and then right click the route and choose “Route Measure Editing” and then choose “Apply Factor…” and enter .001 to divide all measures by 1000.
