Which is the best way to connect origins to destinations?
Straight line (default) generates straight lines (also called desire lines) between the origins and destinations, whereas Follow streets returns the routes in the shape of the street network. The same calculation for matching origins and destinations is used regardless of which route shape is chosen.
What is the distance from origin to destination?
The straight-line distance between any origin-destination pair cannot exceed 27 miles (43.45 kilometers) when the travel mode is Walking Time or Walking Distance. The Connect Origins to Destinations tool uses a geodesic method when finding features with a straight-line distance, rather than a Euclidean method.
Can a circle waypoint be used in calculate route?
A point waypoint results in an extra leg in the response, a circle waypoint does not. Circle waypoints cannot be used when computeBestOrder is true. The following table describes a subset of the parameters that can be used in the Calculate Route service; the remaining parameters are listed on the Common routing parameters page.
How to get directions through the directions API?
Specify origins, destinations, and waypoints as text strings (e.g. “Chicago, IL” or “Darwin, NT, Australia”), as place IDs, or as latitude/longitude coordinates The API returns the most efficient routes when calculating directions.
How are origins and destinations connected in ArcGIS?
Pairs of origins and destinations will be connected using matching ID fields. Each layer must have the same number of features, and ID fields must have unique values within each layer. Origins and destinations can be connected using a line distance or one of several travel modes.
How does the distance matrix in Google Maps work?
The Distance Matrix API is a service that provides travel distance and time for a matrix of origins and destinations. The API returns information based on the recommended route between start and end points, as calculated by the Google Maps API, and consists of rows containing duration and distance values for each pair.
