Make sure Mouse Keys is off. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Keyboard, then click Input Sources. Select “Show Input menu in menu bar.” Open the Input menu, then make sure the correct keyboard layout is selected.
Pressing the Control+Command+Eject/Power button is the most reliable way to restart a Mac because it doesn’t rely on the Mac OS X operating system. Restarting a Mac computer isn’t the same as turning the computer on and off, which completely resets it.
Why does my rewind button on my MacBook Pro not work?
The Rewind, Play/Pause, and Skip buttons (F7, F8, F9) on my Macbook Pro 13in. have stopped working. I read on other forums that they would work with a long delay in between pressing it and it actually working, but they have stopped working altogether for me.
Play/Pause and next/prev song buttons don’t work on internal keyboard and external keyboard. All the other FN keys work as expected: brightness, keyboard brightness, volume/mute, etc. Any resolutions/workarounds? This also worked for me! Thanks!
Where are the function keys on a Mac?
From the View menu choose Keyboard (or Keyboard & Mouse in Mac OS X v10.5.8 and earlier). Click Keyboard, if necessary. Enable “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys.” With this option enabled, the top row of keys will act as standard function keys (F1 – F12) and not perform special functions such as volume control.
What is the Fn key on my MacBook Pro?
To use the features shown on the icon printed on one of these keys while this option is enabled, press Fn. For example, if the above option is enabled, press Fn-F10 to toggle mute on or off. When I went into Settings and Keyboard, the “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys” was already disabled.
