Why are there no shadows cast in Blender?

Why are there no shadows cast in Blender?

I wonder if I’m missing something or if Blender can’t currently cast shadows within Material View in the viewport if I’m using Cycles. As you can see, on the right, shadows are cast on the side of the object that’s not being hit by light. That’s not happening with Cycles (on the left). This is using Material View.

How to make shadows stronger in lighting and rendering?

As you can see there is a strange square shadow on the front of the model pointed out with the red arrow, and the color of the image is too bright. Your background is also illuminating your model, thus you have lighting in the darker parts, change your background color to a darker color and you will get stronger shadows.

How to increase Shadow strength in Blender render engine?

Another option would be to use the alpha as a factor for a node like HSV, to dim the composite down locally, but that requires you to separate shadow from object, like in the question linked above. Thanks for contributing an answer to Blender Stack Exchange!

Why are shadows not shown in material view?

As you can see, on the right, shadows are cast on the side of the object that’s not being hit by light. That’s not happening with Cycles (on the left). This is using Material View. If I change to Render View, it shows them, so it is not a wrong setting (I mean, it’s just the startup setting, just changed the Sun into another kind of lamp).

What to do in material viewport mode Blender?

Material viewport mode will set up a default lighting with no shadows so that you can see your materials in full. There are a few settings related to this viewport mode as well that we will cover later.

Why is my cube not showing Shadows in Blender?

The cube won’t show shadows there where the same viewport settings make the cube cast shadows in Blender Render. There is no problem in Render View mode for both engines. You can delete the cube and create a new one using Cycles materials with nodes and the result would be the same.
