Why do cars beep when the door is open?
As Keith says it’s either the broken beep of the keys in ignition reminder or it’s the continuous lights on reminder that keeps going even if the keys are out of the ignition.

The Altima has been so low maintenance that any little hiccup has me up in arms, lol. Actually, I think not putting it in Park will result in a continuous high pitch ring instead of a constant beep. But only after you close the door and the key is outside the car. It tripped me out when it happened to me once.

It maybe to inform you that the door is open. It may be that the body control module is seeing an abnormal sequence. The typical sequence being Park,engine off, door open,door close. Since Park, door open, engine off is not typical a bit may be latched triggering the chime. Check the owners manual as it may be programable option.
Do you open your car door after a trip?
Yes. I don’t open my door until the car is completely off (cabin lights are always off, all cig lighter accessories unplugged). When I open the door to get in and start driving, this doesn’t happen. It’s only after a trip, after I’ve shut off the engine.
