Why do I get a QGIS WFS error?
I can load the layers I want into QGIS no worries; however whenever I try to edit the layer I get this error message: Could not commit changes to layer X Errors: ERROR: 1 geometries not changed. Does QGIS-2.4 actually support wfs-t capabilities at the moment?
Why does QGIS say could not commit changes to layer?
I have a PostGIS database being served by Geoserver. I can load the layers I want into QGIS no worries; however whenever I try to edit the layer I get this error message: Could not commit changes to layer X Errors: ERROR: 1 geometries not changed.
Is it better to query WFS layer before or after loading it?
Although it is of possible to query a WFS layer after having loaded it, it’s often more efficient to query it before you load it. That way, you’re only requesting the features you want, meaning that you use far less bandwidth.
How does a GeoServer know about a schemalocation?
GeoServer needs to identify when a schemaLocation references the GeoServer’s own WFS service and does this by looking at the hostname of the URL and comparing it to a list of known hostnames it generates at start up by looking at the network interfaces.
How to use Web Feature Services in QGIS?
Click the Open Data Source Manager button. Enable the WFS / OGC API – Features tab. Click the New button. In the dialog that appears, enter the Name as nsidc.org and the URL as https://nsidc.org/cgi-bin/atlas_south?version=1.1.0. Click OK, and the new connection will appear in your Server connections.
What does a Web Feature Service ( WFS ) do?
A Web Feature Service (WFS) provides its users with GIS data in formats that can be loaded directly in QGIS. Unlike a WMS, which provides you only with a map which you can’t edit, a WFS gives you access to the features themselves.
How to make QGIS update from changed data source?
As a workaround you can use an ugly hack: I just introduced a new method which will be available starting from QGIS 2.12: If you have the possibility to control how the file is being overwritten you can open the existing files with write permissions and change the content instead of replacing the files completely (delete/recreate) on disk.
Why did I get error could not commit changes to layer Z?
I am editing a layer’s (Z) attribute table. I made some columns, used the field calculator to fill them up, made some more, went back and deleted some and then tried to save the edits and got the error message: “Could not commit changes to layer Z. Errors: ERROR: 3 attributes not deleted.
How to test QGIS trunk with other layers?
Tested also with other layers, like the “world borders” vector. In qgis trunk (but not in 1.3) after merging non adjacent or non overlapping features (or features with islands) of a postgis layer, after toggling editing to save changes, the program returns “ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint “regions_pkey””
What does ” could not commit changes to layer regions ” mean?
“Could not commit changes to layer regions Errors: ERROR: 1 feature (s) not added. SUCCESS: 2 feature (s) deleted.” If the same is done on a spatialite layer only the latter message is shown (again, only in trunk, not in 1.3).
What happens if somebody edits the same feature in QGIS?
This version of QGIS does not track if somebody else is editing the same feature at the same time as you are. The last person to save its edits wins. For an optimal and accurate edit of the vector layer geometries, we need to set an appropriate value of snapping tolerance and search radius for features vertices.
Do you have to digitize all vertices for QGIS to work?
The advantage is that you don’t have to digitize all vertices of the common boundary. If the new geometry is totally covered by existing ones, it gets cleared and the new feature will have no geometry when allowed by the provider, otherwise saving modifications will make QGIS pop-up an error message.
What is snapping tolerance and search radius in QGIS?
For an optimal and accurate edit of the vector layer geometries, we need to set an appropriate value of snapping tolerance and search radius for features vertices. Snapping tolerance is the distance QGIS uses to search for the closest vertex and/or segment you are trying to connect to when you set a new vertex or move an existing vertex.
