Why do I get a text sound but no text?
This is caused by a notification from an app (not a text) and only happens if you’ve turned off the ability for an app to show you alerts (either banner or popup) but NOT disabled sounds at the same time (in my opinion, Apple should not permit this as it makes no sense to have your phone set up like this).
Why is my text message sound not working on my iPhone?
Check Your iPhone Text Message Sound Effect & Select a Text Tone. Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > and scroll down to the section Sounds and Vibration Patterns. In this section, look for Text Tone. If this says None or Vibrate Only, tap it and change the alert to something you like.
Is there text notification sound but no text Messa?
FYI, I also verified I have no other notification set to the same sound as the text message sound, I also don’t have any Do Not Disturbs activated, and I checked my text message log with my cell phone carrier and found no messages even close to that time frame I received the sound notification.
Why does my text message go off at night?
If the different sound goes off at night again (or anytime without a text message actually appearing to come in), that would narrow it down to it indeed being a pseudo-text-notification. At that point, Do-Not-Disturb, would seem like a reasonable “hack”.

Hoping you may be able to help answer a question… at 3:01 am I received a text notification sound but when checking my phone found no new text message, only one unopened message from the previous morning at 9:14 am. I noticed my icloud backup had started 2 minutes earlier.
