Why do I have to use mirror when exporting Blender?

Why do I have to use mirror when exporting Blender?

Currently each object has an unapplied Mirror modifier to keep the model symmetrical. The issue is that when exporting this model as an FBX, the “Hands” object contains both the left and right hands as a single object, as opposed to being separate objects.

How to make a blender mesh work in Unity?

There’s a workaround about this last issue (applying modifiers on a mesh with shape keys in Blender): create as many copies of the mesh as the number of shapekeys, apply one shape to each mesh, apply all modifiers, then rejoin the meshes using the function “Join as shapes”. Freznosis likes this. (You must log in or sign up to reply here.)

Why are my blendshapes not working in Unity?

So the key frames driving the morph value (animation) in Blender is what’s missing inside Unity. That’s what the they keep changing the morph “Key 1” value in Unity to show you the change in Unity. So you either need to create a custom script or a simple animation inside Unity controlling that value.

Which is the best Blender to use for unity?

Very tedious and confusing (as with most things in Blender). BuzzKirill, trappist-1 and EiknarF like this.

When do you separate an object from a mesh?

At some point, you will come to a time when you need to cut parts away from a mesh to be separate. To separate an object, the vertices (or faces) must be selected and then separated, though there are several different ways to do this.

Is there a way to separate meshes in Blender?

A very manual way to address this is to apply all of my Mirror modifiers, then manually separate the vertices on one half of the model to a new object. The obvious downside to that is that it’s destructive, and I can’t easily edit the model anymore after doing that.

What happens if mirror modifier is not applied?

If mirror modifier is not applied, all mirrored vertices are not considered as “true” vertices. You just have to apply the mirror modifier in object data panel. Thanks for contributing an answer to Stack Overflow! Please be sure to answer the question.
