Why do I not have permission to access a folder?
Go to the Security tab and look for the user name or group section. If you do not have access to that folder, click the Advanced button. Can a user access a shared folder in another group?
Share rights is set on full control for everyone. However, users in this group are unable to access the folder at all. If I explicitly add the individual users, they can access the folder, but not if they are added in as part of the group.
If you wanted to take it a step further for having a File Admins group (not just Domain Admins), set up a “File Admins” group, use it instead of Domain Admins on all root folder NTFS Permissions for where the rest of your files are located (eg. D:\\CompanyFiles). Set it up as a member of every ACL that has Full Control.
