Why do we need better exposed filters in Drupal?
Better Exposed Filters gives you greater control over the rendering of exposed filters. Why use this module? Because it provides a better user experience than the default option. Try telling a client that they should click on an option, then scroll to the next option and ctrl+click on it.
Why is the exposed filter not showing in a block view?
The filter selects options that might be in one of the fields. When it’s enabled for the block view, the filter form does not show, but it filters to only show the rows of my view that have the a term of the filter, in other words, it doesn’t default to “Any”, even though the filter is set to “Optional”.
Can a feature request be made against Drupal 7.x?
Feature requests should be made against the 8.x-4.x version. The 7.x branch is in maintenance mode and new feature requests should be focused on Drupal 8. Feature requests for Dupal 7 will generally not be considered unless they are accompanied by a patch. 🙂

How many filters can I put in templatetags?
There’s no limit on how many modules you put in the templatetags package. Just keep in mind that a {% load %} statement will load tags/filters for the given Python module name, not the name of the app.
Who was the original author of better exposed filters?
In November of 2017, the original author and long time maintainer of the Better Exposed Filters module Mike Keran (mikeker) was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer. He died on January 1st, 2018. Mike was an amazing human, and his death is a great loss to us all.
